Buffalo, NY – Steel Works Industrial Park, a redevelopment project of the Frontier Group of Companies, has hired Frontier Industrial Corp, (FIC) a specialty industrial demolition contractor, to continue site clean up and remediation of a 10 acre parcel of land on the former Bethlehem Steel plant site in Lackawanna, New York.

The project is a redevelopment effort designed to re-use parts of the former steel plant along Route 5. FIC has been on site for some time performing site clean-up activities in order to make the site ready for light industrial and manufacturing tenants. Work has been completed on a portion of the site with 12 tenants currently occupying over 425,000 sq. ft. of space at Steel Works.

The most resent site work involved a controlled building drop of an obsolete steel structure. The steel structure was razed and will be dismantled and the steel recycled. A video of the controlled building drop can be viewed here.

“Our priority in this case and with any demolition activity is workplace and worker safety” commented Dennis Franjoine, Vice President for Frontier Industrial Corp. “Our team on site at the Steel Works project did a great job planning and executing the controlled drop. The result was exactly what we planned for.”

The FIC work will continue for some time to bring online both indoor and outdoor areas of the facilities for prospective tenants.
